Hydro dam

WALT write an explanation including a definition, description and conclusion (of how a Hydro-power station works)

A hydro-dam is an amazing structure that makes electricity.

Firstly you build a dam to block the river. Water then builds up behind the dam. This is called the reservoir.
Water then goes through the intake, and rushes down the penstock and it goes into the turbine and spins quickly which creates electricity.
The electricity is stored in the generator. The electricity then travels through the power lines to the houses and cities.  After the water goes through the turbine, it rejoins the river.
This is a renewable source of energy.
